MeitY has approved a project in 2014 entitled ‘Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Phase II’, which is aimed at capacity building in the area of Information Security for generating right kind of qualified human resources to meet the ever evolving challenges in this area through education (formal/non-formal courses); training of Govt. officials; and creation of mass awareness for various user segments/general public in the country. Over the years, the ISEA project has built a strong network of 52 academic institutions comprising of IISc. Bangalore, select - IITs, NITs, IIITs, Govt. Engineering Colleges, Technical Universities, CDAC & NIELIT Centers, etc.
During a presentation on National Cyber Security Strategy, 2020, the Hon’ble Prime Minister has directed that ‘Every ministry has some personnel with technical aptitudes. These are to identified and trained in cyber security courses within six months. These should then form the cyber security nucleus for that ministry’. To facilitate the above mandate, ‘Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Phase II’ Program will undertake the training program with the objective to harmonize the cyber security knowledge and skills amongst the identified personnel with ‘technical aptitude’ across the Ministries /Departments and equip them to acquire basic understanding of cyber risks, policies/ procedures/laws, enable protective measures such as scheduling security audits, facilitate incident reporting & escalation of issues, etc. It will also aim to sensitize a larger pool of Government personnel about the pitfall of cyber security related threats in IT/ICT environment and introduce cyber hygiene aspects
